Ecommerce Analytics Engineer

Job Description

• Collaborate with Ecommerce BI Analysts to understand business needs and translate them into efficient data structures.
• Enable analysts to focus on delivering insights by ensuring timely access to curated, high-quality datasets.
• Partner with Data Engineers to ensure data availability in staging environments.
• Own the transformation layer between staging and analytics-ready datasets, applying business logic to create trusted sources for analysis.
• Develop and manage layered transformation workflows that promote modularity, traceability, and alignment with governance and AI-readiness standards.
• Build and maintain structured, reusable datasets using dbt or similar transformation tools, applying scalable logic to support analytics across ecommerce products.
• Maintain documentation, testing protocols, and data quality standards.
• Ensure data and models from on-prem applications, Google Analytics and other sources support key ecommerce metrics related to site search, customer behavior, product performance, and other relevant measures.
• Lead development of scalable, modular data models (staging, intermediate, mart) that support traceability and reduce duplicative effort.
• Optimize transformation logic for performance and maintainability.
• Define and enforce documentation and lineage standards for analytics datasets.
• Work closely with cross-functional product teams to ensure data models align with customer experience goals and ecommerce KPIs.
• Experience supporting multi-domain and multi-language international ecommerce websites.
• Moderate SQL proficiency and understanding of data modeling principles.
• Experience with Alteryx or similar ETL platforms.
• Ability to optimize data models for performance and usability.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of ecommerce metrics and digital product data needs.
• Ability to lead data modeling efforts and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong understanding of data governance and documentation best practices.
• Strong skills in mathematics.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Solid organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Good presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
• Communicate clearly and concisely with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Highly effective in working within teams with wide target audiences.
• Understanding of basic web programming principles, tools, and technologies.
• Experience with data that explains user behavior.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent related work experience. Master’s degree preferred.
• 2+ to 7+ years of combined experience with dbt or similar transformation tools based on level.
• 2+ to 7+ years of experience with cloud data platforms and scalable data modeling based on level.
• 6+ years digital analytics data (Google Analytics Preferred) experience required.
