Description

Director, IC Design and MSB Bengaluru Site Lead

The candidate will help staff, and lead MSB’s Design Team in Bengaluru with a mission of building a strong team focused on RF/Analog IC design and verification. This team will be a key part of our Mobile Solutions Business, which consists of highly integrated front end modules that integrate Filters, Switches, LNAs, and matching in densely packed & complex front-end modules for Cellular and WiFi applications. The Design Center will work directly and closely with design teams in the US and other worldwide locations.

As the MSB Design Center leader, you will be responsible for all MSB Staff, act as the internal advocate for the site, and drive recruiting and staffing. In addition, you will be responsible for a team of engineers driving IC designs and layout. You and your team will engage in frequent technical meetings and design reviews with counterparts abroad.

Responsibilities

The candidate will report to the VP of Engineering in the US and have a team of Managers and Engineers reporting to them. These Managers and Engineers will have a matrix reporting structure to various teams in US doing IC design, verification and Layout.

Responsibilities Will Include, But Not Be Limited To

• Recruiting & Staffing:

• Jointly drive staffing & recruiting with HR to ensure a world-class team is brought together to execute on complex, highly critical programs. This includes IC designers, Verification engineers and Layout engineers
• Technical Leadership:
• Act as the IC Design & Technical Leader for a team focused on the design of complex front-end modules
• Experience managing large technical teams
• A track record of growing successful design teams
• Ability to set & articulate clear goals and drive accountability to those
• Use of AI tools to improve productivity, efficiency, automation, bug-tracking and reporting
• Communication
• Act as the voice of the Design Site, drive company communications, strategy, and goals throughout the Site via all-hands meetings and regular dialog with all Site personnel and reporting to US upper management
• Travel to US will be required on a regular basis
  

Required Experience And Skills

• The candidate must have excellent written and spoken communications, sufficient to present program technical status & schedule progress to senior management.
• EDA & Software tools:
• Strong experience with the Cadence suite of EDA tools
• Knowledge of commonly used IC layout tools
• Knowledge of 2D/3D EM simulation tools
• Knowledge of ADS or equivalent simulator
• Circuit & Module Design:
• Deep understanding of RF SOI technology including RF switch, tuning & RF LNA design.
• Experience in and understanding of core Analog Design including low bit count data converters (ADC & DAC blocks), Bandgaps, Op-Amps, Bias blocks, Temp sensor, LDO, ESD and other supporting cells
• Basic Digital Design including SPI & MIPI interface design, Decoding logic, and simple state machines
• Semiconductor process knowledge including SOI, bulk CMOS, SiGe
• Experience with microwave techniques including transmission lines, Smith chart, impedance matching, etc
• Familiarity with acoustic filter design and interfacing with RFIC blocks like LNAs and switches.
• Working knowledge of RF multi-chip modules including 3D Packaging, assembly, thermals and EMI basics.
• Knowledge of test equipment and common RF tests and parameters
• Cellular Systems Understanding:
• Possess a strong understanding of Cellular/WiFi systems including 2G to 6G and key RX and Tx system specifications.
• Knowledge of relevant industry, customers, competitors and suppliers
• Experience working with teams in the US from India
  

Desired Experience And Skills

• Minimum Requirements:
• BSEE; MS preferred
• 15+ years of IC Design experience
• 10+ years of Technical Leadership and Management experience
