The Platform Administrator (Manager – Data Platforms) is responsible for the operational stability, reliability, and governed access of Ralph Lauren’s enterprise data platforms that underpin Data Products, analytics, and AI capabilities.

This role ensures that data platforms are secure, available, performant, and compliant, enabling Data Product Managers, Data Engineering, Analytics, and Governance teams to operate efficiently at scale. The Platform Administrator focuses on platform operations, access management, environment health, observability, and policy enforcement, rather than data modeling or product strategy.

Operating at a manager level, this role brings experience managing complex enterprise data platforms, coordinating across multiple technical and business stakeholders, and balancing platform control with user enablement in a global, regulated environment

  • Platform Operations & Stability
  • Own day-to-day operational management of enterprise data platforms supporting data products and analytics.
  • Monitor platform health, availability, performance, and capacity; ensure adherence to SLAs and operational expectations.
  • Coordinate platform incident management, root cause analysis, and remediation activities.
  • Partner with data engineering teams to support upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and platform enhancements.

  • Access, Security & Environment Management
  • Manage and automate user access, roles, permissions, and entitlements across data platforms in alignment with governance policies.
  • Ensure secure and appropriate access for data product teams, engineers, analysts, data scientists, and approved business users.
  • Partner with security, compliance, and governance teams to enforce data protection, privacy, and access standards.
  • Maintain environment separation (e.g., dev / test / prod) and support controlled promotion and release processes.

  • Collaboration with Data Product & Delivery Teams
  • Work closely with Data Product Managers, Scrum Masters, and Data Engineering teams to support delivery needs.
  • Enable timely access, environments, and platform services required for data product development and release.
  • Support onboarding of new teams and users onto the enterprise data platform ecosystem.
  • Provide clear platform guidance, constraints, and standards to support realistic delivery planning.

  • Enforce enterprise standards related to platform usage, configuration, operational controls, and access.
  • Support data governance initiatives by ensuring catalog, lineage, quality monitoring, and metadata tools are operational and integrated.
  • Help ensure platforms support auditability, traceability, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Identify and surface operational risks related to platform stability, access, scalability, or misuse.

  • Track and report platform metrics such as uptime, performance, incident trends, usage, and access patterns.
  • Provide regular operational status updates to data leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend structural improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement of platform operations based on usage trends and feedback.

Required

  • 7–10 years of experience in platform administration, data platform operations, or similar enterprise roles.
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise data platforms that enable data products, analytics, and AI use cases.
  • Solid understanding of data security, identity and access management, and enterprise data governance practices.
  • Experience operating in complex, regulated, or global environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Data Product Managers, Data Engineering, Analytics, Scrum, Security, and Governance teams.

Required Platforms & Expected Proficiency

The role requires hands-on operational expertise across the following platforms:

Must Have (Hands-on / Admin-level)

  • Databricks – workspace administration, access control, job/service monitoring, and environment governance
  • Microsoft Azure – identity & access (AAD), resource management, security controls, and platform operations relevant to data ecosystems

Must Have (Operational Ownership / Strong Working Knowledge)

  • Power BI – workspace governance, capacity management, dataset access control, and operational oversight

Good to Have (Operational Integration & Oversight)

  • SODA (or equivalent data quality / observability tooling) – monitoring integrations, alerting support, operational triage
  • Atlan (or equivalent data catalog / metadata platform) – access enablement, operational support, and governance alignment

Preferred

  • Experience in retail, consumer goods, or other data intensive industries.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-scale, cloud-native data ecosystems.
  • Experience supporting multiple teams or domains on a shared data platform.
  • Certifications related to cloud platforms, data engineering, platform operations, or security (nice to have).
