Role Overview
The Community Associate – Engagement & Ecosystem Development is responsible for designing, building, and scaling a vibrant internal and external community ecosystem. The role integrates elements of employee engagement, employer branding, and strategic outreach to create meaningful connections between the organization and relevant professional communities.
The position requires a proactive approach to community creation rather than passive management. The incumbent will be expected to identify, engage, and activate communities across industry networks, academia, startups, and professional groups, while simultaneously strengthening internal engagement initiatives. The role combines program management, communication strategy, and stakeholder engagement to drive participation, brand visibility, and community-led value creation.
Key Responsibilities
Community Building & Ecosystem Development
Identify and map relevant external communities (industry groups, academic institutions, startup ecosystems, professional networks) aligned with organizational objectives.
Establish and nurture relationships with community leaders, institutions, and partners to create collaboration opportunities.
Conceptualize and build new communities where gaps exist, including digital and physical engagement platforms.
Develop a structured community engagement calendar to ensure sustained interaction and participation.
Drive community-led initiatives that enhance brand visibility and knowledge exchange.
External Outreach & Partnerships
Proactively reach out to external stakeholders to onboard communities for events, collaborations, and partnerships.
Act as the organization’s representative in external forums, meetups, and networking platforms.
Build partnerships with colleges, industry bodies, and professional associations for long-term engagement.
Support talent branding through community-based outreach programs.
Event Strategy & Execution
Design and execute community-driven events such as meetups, workshops, panel discussions, hackathons, and knowledge sessions.
Manage end-to-end event lifecycle including ideation, partnerships, logistics, communication, and post-event engagement.
Ensure events are aligned with brand positioning and community expectations.
Track participation, engagement metrics, and outcomes of events for continuous improvement.
Internal Engagement & Culture Building
Collaborate with HR to design and execute employee engagement initiatives that foster a sense of belonging and participation.
Build internal communities (interest groups, learning circles, innovation forums) to enhance collaboration and engagement.
Drive initiatives that connect internal teams with external communities for learning and exposure.
Support programs related to culture building, recognition, and employee experience.
Branding & Communication
Develop and execute communication strategies for community initiatives across digital and physical channels.
Create compelling content (mailers, social media posts, event collateral, community updates) to drive engagement.
Ensure consistency in employer branding across all community touchpoints.
Leverage platforms such as LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp, and internal tools to build active engagement channels.
Administrative & Program Governance
Maintain community databases, partner contacts, and engagement records.
Track budgets, vendor coordination, and logistical requirements for events and programs.
Monitor engagement metrics including participation rates, community growth, and brand reach.
Ensure smooth operational execution of all community initiatives.

Demonstrated ability to create, grow, and sustain communities through structured engagement and relationship management.
Stakeholder Engagement
Strong capability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders including professionals, academia, and industry partners.
Communication & Branding
Ability to craft clear, engaging communication and represent the organization effectively across platforms.
Program & Event Management
Experience in planning and executing events with attention to detail and participant experience.
Networking Ability
Comfortable reaching out, initiating conversations, and building long-term partnerships.
Execution Focus
Ability to translate ideas into actionable programs with measurable outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related discipline.
2–5 years of experience in community building, employee engagement, employer branding, marketing, or partnerships.
Experience in organizing events, managing communities, or running engagement programs is essential.
Familiarity with startup ecosystems, tech communities, or professional networks is desirable.
