In Waters, the Informatics group produces software that is used by people worldwide for specialist measurement and scientific analysis. We are currently seeking a Cloud Principl Engineer to work in one of our Cloud Development teams. Role Specific
Lead User Story refinement meetings to ensure stories are understood and decomposed adequately
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, design, document and implement quality solutions and as part of a team with deep focus on hard technical problems and explain the why, how, and what, that makes your solution technically sound, provide constructive feedback regarding best practices, performance, and maintainability
Stay ahead of the curve with respect to new technologies and techniques with an eye towards continual improvement of both the team’s skill set and the product goals
To act as technical expert for coding, process and best practices (e.g. adherence to Definition of Done) and effectively communicate this to the team
Collaborate across teams to improve working practices and skill levels
To carry out all responsibilities in accordance with the Quality Policy and all applicable procedures
Contribute to the development and maintenance of all aspects of the applications and services owned by the team.
Individual
Adhere to Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications/Education Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent) in science, computing engineering subjects.
Experience required: Minimum 12 Years in Cloud and Software Development
Extensive knowledge and proven experience as a software developer, with exposure to elements of the back-end technology stack (C#, .NET).
Front-End JavaScript Frameworks, especially Angular
Good experience working with Amazon Web Services, Microservices, API development
Aptitude/skills Required
Knowledge and application of software engineering practices (e.g. Unit testing, TDD, CI/CD, SOLID, BDD etc.).
Proven ability to lead design and development of complex features
Proven ability to work as part of an Agile delivery team.
Ability to analyse and solve problems.
Excellent communication and team working skills.
Desirable
Continuous delivery, with pipelines implemented in Spinnaker, Kubernetes, Docker, TerraForm
Experience implementing Data Dog - ability to create monitors, alerts and dashboards.
Experience using GitHub and GitHub Actions
Behavior Driven Development (BDD), with Gherkin & SpecFlow
Atlassian Jira, Confluence
Software security best practices and implementation (e.g. OWASP, PKI, X509 Certificates, TLS)
Software development for regulated environments (e.g. 21CFR11)
Authorities
Can perform development tasks under an appropriate level of guidance.
Can review and electronically sign documents as required by development processes.
