Working as part of a large engineering group the role requires the ability carry out Electrical Design activities and support the Electrical Engineer for the wider electrical engineering design associated with modification and installation of electrical plant & equipment within existing brownfield facilities and also for the installation of electrical plant & equipment into new greenfield facilities. The candidate will be fully conversant with the use of AutoCAD software for the preparation of electrical drawings including SLDs, Block Diagrams, ICDs, electrical equipment layouts, earthing layouts, schematics, above and below ground cable Routing Drawings, & plot plans in line with the Clients requirements and applicable international standards. Further to this the role also includes preparing 2D and 3D plant layouts for Electrical Equipment in line with the requirements of the engineering project team. The ability to be self-motivated, plan out their own work and feed into the overall plan in coordination with the wider electrical engineering and project team is required. The ability to create tasks and work breakdown structures in order to assist with the estimate of associated man-hours to complete packages of work for projects and tender documentation to support the sales team is desirable to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and modifies detail drawings using 2D/3D AutoCAD software packages based on information supplied by electrical and other multi-disciplined engineers and designers.
  • The ability to use lighting design software, Navisworks and Revit is also required.
  • Ability to utilise AutoCAD to develop all electrical drawings, design details, and other appropriate design concepts.
  • Ability to be proactive and coordinate with other discipline groups to gather the necessary information for input into electrical engineering design to enable the design process to be managed to the agreed schedule and accelerated where necessary to meet project milestones.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models to assist with investigations of engineering problems and clash avoidance.
  • Ability to generate material take offs for estimating purposes from 2D and 3D drawings and assist with the overall estimating process.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately predict the time required to fulfil the individual scopes of work required.
  • Assists with establishing, maintaining and enforcing the use of proper CAD standards and procedures across the business.
  • The role will require working alone and as part of a large cross disciplinary team so the successful candidate should be self-motivated and also a strong communicator who works well with others.


Qualifications

  • An Electrical Engineering qualification to Diploma or Bachelors Degree. City & Guilds 4351 AutoCAD levels 2 & 3 (2D&3D) or equivalent qualification as a minimum.
  • Excellent CAD skills, including considerable experience using AutoCAD Software.
  • Autodesk AutoCAD certified user certification
