What role you will play in our team
Sustainability Analysts will provide direct support to ExxonMobil’s Upstream and Downstream sites in managing various environmental reporting activities. The role involves working with site teams to ensure accurate data collection, validation, and reporting across multiple regulatory and internal frameworks. Analysts will contribute to compliance assurance, data analytics, and continuous improvement of environmental performance metrics.
What you will do
- Environmental Reporting & Compliance Support:
- Assist sites with preparation and submission of reports for programs such as DMR, TSCA, TRI, and GHG.
- Support quarterly and annual emissions reporting, including flaring, water, and air compliance.
- Conduct preliminary compliance checks and downtime analysis for CEMS and flaring systems.
- Track fuel, flare, and vent source activities for emissions assurance.
- Data Analytics & Quality Control:
- Analyze large datasets using Excel and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Implement spreadsheet controls to protect data integrity in site-developed workbooks.
- Perform rigorous data validation and troubleshoot discrepancies in sustainability data.
- Regulatory & Framework Alignment:
- Support site teams in meeting U.S. federal and provincial regulatory requirements (e.g., Clean Air Act, GHGRP, NSR).
- Assist with public reporting submissions (e.g., NPRI, O.Reg.88/22 s34).
- Ensure alignment with global sustainability frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, SASB, BRSR).
- Digital Enablement & Innovation:
- Contribute to initiatives for benchmarking permits and visualizing emissions data.
- Collaborate with IT and data teams to improve reporting workflows and enable automation.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
- Work closely with site teams and cross-functional stakeholders to support ESG targets.
- Communicate complex data insights and provide regular updates to internal teams.
About You
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Data Analytics, or a related field from a reputed university.
- 0–8 years of experience in sustainability reporting, environmental data analysis, or related fields.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data connections).
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work collaboratively with site teams and global stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving regulatory and technical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, SASB, BRSR, TCFD).
- Exposure to emissions monitoring tools and technologies (e.g., CEMS).
- Experience with environmental data platforms such as GaBi, Enablon, or Simapro.
- Understanding of environmental regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, GHGRP, ISO 14001, EPA standards).
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural collaboration.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities in data quality and reporting processes.
- Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
- Adaptability and learning agility, including pursuit of certifications or participation in industry events.
