We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President, Wholesale Non Financial Risk

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead SME support for WSB Business Risk across risk identification, mitigation, governance, insights, and control activities, partnering with 1LOD/2LOD, WBR, DBS, CMB, GB and other functions as needed.
  • The Wholesale Banking (WSB) Chief Control Office (CCO) team sit within the Wholesale COO and provide expert impartial guidance and support to implement and maintain an effective Wholesale Business Risk (WBR) - including Financial and Non-Financial Risk, which contributes to the effective execution of relationships, products, and services for WSB clients.
  • Role holder will provide high quality risk management support and ensure the risk landscape is managed within risk appetite. Role holder will be responsible in driving change and transformation programs through a Global organization – both to own teams and structures and jointly with the Business through supporting and delivering changing workplace strategies.
  • Role holder with act as a nodal point for WBR related activity across different product categories. Support WBR Senior Management on Conduct Risk, ensuring governance committees meet the risk governance framework and that key risks/messages are escalated through the right forums.
  • Govern the Sales Outcomes Testing process across global sites, ensuring consistent execution and oversight.
  • Guide 1LOD management on the risk management framework, facilitating risk/control assessments and identifying control weaknesses and issues.
  • Ensure alignment with internal/external directives (Risk Stewards, Compliance, Op Risk, Legal, Finance) and regulatory/control frameworks (e.g., SOX, IFRS, Basel III), delivering on timelines.
  • Prepare for and support Risk Steward reviews and internal audits, aiming for nil observations and strong stakeholder feedback.
  • Maintain strong operational control: high-quality/refresh-compliant records, timely cascade of regulatory/policy changes, training completion, awareness sessions, and development/governance of key risk indicators.
  • Provide stakeholder visibility and drive outcomes: dashboards/toolkits, regular 1:1s, remediation and closure of audit/regulatory/issues within agreed timelines, while promoting HSBC Values and a positive control culture within the 3 Lines of Defence and FIM requirements.

To Be Successful You Will

  • Deep risk management expertise across RCA, control rating assessments, issue/action management, internal/external event management, and data quality within risk and control frameworks.
  • Proven experience delivering risk management in a global organisation; exposure to resilience, cyber security, regulatory, and/or operational risk is an advantage.
  • Competent, timely decision-making—especially under pressure and in fast-moving situations.
  • Strong analytical capability to interpret complex information and drive sound risk outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confident communication at all levels (including senior executives and external parties).
  • Quick learner with the ability to become a Subject Matter Expert through deep dives across multiple business risk areas.
  • Highly adaptable—able to manage competing priorities that are restricted, unpredictable, complex, and time-sensitive.
  • Effective delivery in a matrix, multi-jurisdiction environment across Wholesale (CMB, GB, GPS, GTS) and wider businesses/functions (e.g., DBS, MSS, WPB), working independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong professional foundation: degree in Finance/Business/FRM (or equivalent), strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, and exposure to Qlik Sense/Power BI.
