Job Description

The General Accounting Accountant I is part of the Finance & Accounting department and reports directly to the R2R Team Lead, Manager, or Finance Controller. This position is responsible for managing and executing comprehensive accounting processes, with a primary focus on ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The role is integral to the success of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and driving continuous improvement within financial operations.

Duties And Responsibilities

General Accounting (GA)

  • Perform general ledger accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, managing accruals, reconciling bank and balance accounts, accounting for fixed assets, handling intercompany transactions, and
  • reparing financial reports such as Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), quality benchmarks, and compliance with established processes.
  • Process transactions with precision, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, and generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits by supplying required documentation and clear explanations as needed.
  • Demonstrate careful attention to detail when following instructions, proactively identifying discrepancies and seeking guidance from team lead or managers as appropriate.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders from other finance functions, such as Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), to ensure seamless financial operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within accounting operations.
  • Prepare management reports and conduct variance analysis to support financial decision-making.

Knowledge, Skills, And Experience

  • Familiarity with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and consistently meet tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Commerce (B Com) or MBA degree.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in General accounting or Record to Report (R2R) processes.

Additional Details

  • Travel: Occasional supplier/site visits may be required (subject to business need).
  • Work Hours: Standard business hours with flexibility for global coordination.
