About the Role

Were hiring an SDE 1 to build and scale the user-facing platforms and backend services that power Goodera.

This is an active building role, not a maintenance track. Instead of just squashing bugs, youll own user-facing features end-to-end—designing schemas, writing clean code, and shipping to production. Your success is measured by deployment reliability and product adoption, not hours logged. Working closely with product, design, and QA, you’ll get the autonomy to build fast and the mentorship to scale your skills daily.

What youll work on

The problem space spans both our global volunteer-facing platforms and the partner portal that connects us to thousands of non-profits. Concretely:

• Volunteer Experience & Booking Flows: Developing clean, responsive, and accessible frontend interfaces in React so that corporate employees can discover and register for volunteering events seamlessly.
• Event & Inventory Microservices: Building and optimizing backend RESTful APIs in Node.js to handle high-concurrency booking logic, event tracking, and shifting volunteer schedules.
• Impact Tracking & Metrics: Designing efficient database schemas (PostgreSQL/NoSQL) and writing optimized queries to aggregate massive volumes of social impact data, hours volunteered, and funds raised.
• Internal Tooling & Operations: Collaborating on our internal operations dashboard to automate manual workflows for our event hosts, streamlining how 1,500+ events a month are coordinated and tracked.
• Platform Reliability & Testing: Writing comprehensive unit and integration tests (Jest, RTL) to protect core user workflows and participating in rigorous code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.

What were looking for

• 1–2 years of professional software engineering experience) building and shipping web applications in production.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals: strong data structures, algorithms, and a clear understanding of asynchronous programming.
• Full-stack comfort across our core ecosystem: highly proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, with hands-on experience in Node.js for backend logic and React.js for frontend interfaces.
• Comfort with data modeling: a good grasp of relational database design (SQL) and experience writing clean, optimized queries.
• An ownership mindset. You dont just write code to meet a ticket requirement; you think about edge cases, error handling, and what happens when real users interact with your feature.
• Excellent debugging skills. You know how to dig into a stack trace, diagnose a bottleneck in an API call, and iterate quickly toward a solution.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure environments (AWS or Azure).
• Experience with state management libraries (Redux, Context API) and modern CSS frameworks like Tailwind CSS.
• A portfolio of side projects or open-source contributions that demonstrate a passion for building clean software.
