Production Designer
The designer will support the development of compelling and accessible student- and teacher-facing curriculum materials for our core mathematics and literacy products. The primary focus for this role will be our Accessible eReader, where the designer will work independently as well as with our internal design and content teams to review and remediate English and Spanish language eBooks for multiple grades, give feedback to vendors, confirm guidance with our internal team, and update source files as needed.
What You’ll Do
Remediate print and digital products and update source files and assets as needed.
Expand on existing prototypes and page layouts, preparing files for production handoffs.
Attend and participate in project meetings, as needed. Document and follow up on important actions from meetings.
Communicate regularly with supervisors, design and production teams, and cross-functional collaborators.
Understand and execute project goals and maintain schedules.
Track tasks using project management tool.
Here’s how you’ll contribute:
Print/Digital Design: Implement product-specific visual design plans across print and digital mediums. Navigate project constraints to build meaningful design experiences.
eBook Remediation: Perform detailed reviews of vendor-generated content and provide actionable feedback to ensure consistency with the established visual design, text styling, page structure, and accessibility standards.
Art Development: Revise and resize existing art to meet eReader requirements, including accessibility standards, before production and during remediation.
Documentation: Mark up PDFs, noting reading order, image size guidance, or image adaptions to guide vendor production. Contribute to existing style guides and prototypes as needed.
Project Management: Have a command of iterative design workflows and print and digital processes.
Production: Ensure files meet accessibility and production requirements to support efficient handoffs.
Mentorship: Serve as a resource for other designers, give specific feedback and guidance when necessary, and share knowledge of new tools and experiences.
What You’ll Bring
Creative problem-solver, capable of engaging with both mathematics and literacy curriculums.
A strong appreciation and understanding of both print and UX design best practices and WCAG standards.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
Deadline-driven mindset.
Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and listening skills, proactively asks questions.
Openness and ability to apply constructive feedback.
