Job Description

An X-Ray Technician, also known as a Radiologic Technologist, plays a pivotal role in the healthcare field by operating X-ray machines and other imaging technology to administer diagnostic imaging tests. These tests assist physicians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. The position requires technical skills to produce and analyze high-quality radiographic images, and compassion to ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures. X-Ray Technicians are essential in maintaining the flow of operations in hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic imaging centers. Additionally, they must adhere to strict safety protocols to protect both patients and themselves from unnecessary exposure to radiation.


Responsibilities

  • Operate X-ray machines and other imaging technology to conduct diagnostic tests.
  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and ensure their comfort and safety.
  • Explain procedures to patients to minimize anxiety and enhance cooperation.
  • Position patients properly to obtain accurate and diagnostically useful images.
  • Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Analyze and evaluate images for quality, clarity, and diagnostic value.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and report findings to the attending physician.
  • Adhere to established safety protocols to minimize exposure to radiation.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare team members effectively.
  • Stay current with continuing education and advancements in radiologic technologies.
  • Ensure quality control measures are followed for imaging processes and procedures.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks, such as scheduling and patient registration.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiology or related field is required.
  • Valid state certification or licensure as an X-Ray Technician is mandatory.
  • Completion of a certified Radiologic Technologist program is essential.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Proficiency in operating radiologic equipment and conducting diagnostic tests.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations related to radiation exposure limits.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle emergency situations.
  • Excellent attention to detail for analyzing imaging results accurately.
  • Compassionate nature with a strong focus on patient care and well-being.
