Job Description

A Store Assistant is a crucial part of retail operations, providing customers with excellent service while supporting daily store activities. They are responsible for ensuring the store runs smoothly by assisting customers, replenishing stock, and maintaining a clean and organized retail environment. An effective Store Assistant not only meets customer needs with a friendly demeanor and in-depth product knowledge but also ensures that inventory is managed efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly as they enter the store and offer assistance.
  • Provide information and advice on products and services to customers.
  • Assist customers with locating items and help them with their purchases.
  • Ensure store shelves and displays are well-stocked and neatly organized.
  • Handle customer complaints and escalate issues to the manager when needed.
  • Operate the cash register accurately and handle transactions efficiently.
  • Track inventory levels and report shortages to the store manager.
  • Support with unloading deliveries and organizing stock in the storage area.
  • Participate in stock taking and inventory management activities regularly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout the store at all times.
  • Assist with setting up promotional displays and other visual merchandising tasks.
  • Follow all safety and security guidelines to ensure a safe shopping environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a retail or customer service role preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Proficiency with point of sale systems and inventory management software desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to work well in a team and alongside store management.
