Job Description

The Medical Records Assistant is a crucial role within healthcare facilities, responsible for managing and organizing patients' medical records. This position ensures that patient information is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible for healthcare professionals. Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with retrieving and managing medical records efficiently.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to medical ethics and compliance laws.
  • Organize and file medical documentation, ensuring traceability and accessibility.
  • Handle the intake of medical records, verifying completeness, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Coordinate the transfer and release of medical records upon authorized requests.
  • Conduct regular audits of records for quality control and assurance purposes.
  • Support the administrative team in preparing and managing data reports and metrics.
  • Digitize paper records and input them accurately into electronic health record systems.
  • Train and support staff on proper records management and data entry procedures.
  • Respond to internal and external queries regarding patient records information.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to stay updated on industry practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification is required.
  • Previous experience in medical records management or administrative roles preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare documentation practices.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and data entry software systems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain privacy regulations.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in a healthcare setting.
