Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Commis to join our culinary team. As a Commis, you will work under the supervision of a chef, assisting in the preparation and creation of dishes while honing your skills in a professional kitchen environment. Responsibilities

  • Assist the head chef in preparing and cooking meals efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
  • Follow recipes and instructions to ensure consistent meal quality.
  • Assist in receiving and stocking ingredients and supplies promptly.
  • Monitor food stock levels and report any discrepancies immediately.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards consistently.
  • Help with plating dishes according to the chef’s specifications.
  • Participate in ongoing kitchen training and development programs.
  • Manage kitchen equipment and report any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Support other kitchen staff during peak service hours as needed.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Contribute creative ideas for menu improvement and presentation.

Requirements

  • Previous kitchen experience is beneficial, though not strictly necessary.
  • Genuine interest in culinary arts and food preparation techniques.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment handling.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, is often required.
