Job Description

The role of a CCTV Technician is crucial in ensuring the security and safety of various premises by skillfully installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting closed-circuit television systems. These systems are widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings to monitor activities and secure property. A CCTV Technician needs to possess a keen eye for detail, technical expertise, and a strong understanding of both hardware and software components related to surveillance systems. The technician is responsible for setting up systems that are both effective and user-friendly, thus requiring good communication skills to instruct clients on how to properly use their equipment. Given the constant technological advancements, a CCTV Technician must also stay updated on the latest trends and technologies to provide optimal solutions for security needs.


Responsibilities

  • Install CCTV cameras and related equipment in various types of environments.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks on installed CCTV systems to ensure functionality.
  • Diagnose and resolve various technical issues related to surveillance systems.
  • Configure and connect CCTV systems to local or networked digital recorders.
  • Operate testing equipment to ascertain camera strengths and weaknesses.
  • Educate clients on the operation and troubleshooting of their CCTV systems.
  • Ensure all works are completed to high industry standards and compliance regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs for future reference.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to helpdesk teams as required.
  • Stay informed about the latest industry trends and equipment advancements.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical recommendations for new projects.
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in installing and maintaining CCTV systems and surveillance equipment.
  • Strong understanding of networking, cabling, and power specifications for CCTV setups.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing all types of CCTV camera issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a technical team.
  • Excellent communication skills for client instruction and technical report writing.
  • Valid driver’s license, with the ability to travel to various work sites.
  • Certification or training in electronics, network security, or IT is preferred.
