Job Description
As a Lead Piping Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of piping systems within various industrial projects. Your role will involve leading a team of piping engineers and designers to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. In this position, you will collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to develop piping solutions that meet the project requirements. You will also be conducting feasibility studies, analyzing project specifications, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with extensive experience in piping design and engineering. Strong leadership skills, communication abilities, and proficiency in relevant software tools are essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of piping engineers to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
- Develop piping engineering design concepts, specifications, and standards for projects.
- Review and approve piping designs, drawings, and calculations to ensure compliance with industry codes and standards.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, such as civil, mechanical, and electrical, to ensure seamless integration of piping systems.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and designers on piping engineering tasks.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate with clients to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing piping systems and provide recommendations for upgrades or modifications.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations in all piping engineering activities.
- Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to support the procurement of piping materials and equipment and oversee installation and testing activities.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in piping engineering technology to continuously improve project outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in piping design engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Proficiency in piping design software such as AutoCAD, CAESAR II, and PDMS.
- Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, API 570, and ANSI/ASME B16.5.
