Job Description

The General Accountant position is a vital role within a company's finance department. The individual in this position will be responsible for maintaining the company's financial records and ensuring accuracy in reporting financial data. This involves preparing, analyzing, and verifying financial statements in accordance with regulatory standards, including GAAP. The role also includes participating in audits, managing accounts payable and receivable, and providing insightful reports to aid in financial planning and decision-making. The successful candidate will have a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial staff effectively. Additionally, the General Accountant will keep abreast of changes in financial regulations that may affect the company's operations.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and examine financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Manage the company's budgets, track expenses, and prepare budget variance reports.
  • Assist in developing financial strategies by providing accurate financial forecasts.
  • Maintain the general ledger, post journal entries, and perform regular reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
  • Oversee the processing of invoices, expense forms, and payment requests accurately.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit processes.
  • Prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements.
  • Analyze financial reports and market trends to provide actionable insights.
  • Coordinate with different departments to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
  • Review and optimize internal financial controls and processes for efficiency.
  • Provide support in financial statements and business activity reports preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a general accounting role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, tally or SAP is essential.
  • Excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with different departments.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is highly regarded.
