Fire Fighting Technician - Pipe Fitter 21N25

As a Fire Fighting Technician specializing in Pipe Fitting, you will be instrumental in designing, installing, and maintaining fire protection systems and equipment. You will work collaboratively with a team to ensure all safety measures are in place and operational. This role is crucial in protecting people, properties, and assets against fire hazards by ensuring that fire sprinkler systems, alarms, and other warning systems are properly installed and maintained. You will be expected to have a precise understanding of different types of piping materials and systems, as well as a strong knowledge of safety codes and regulations related to fire protection. Responsibilities

• Design, lay out, and install new fire protection piping systems efficiently.
• Conduct regular maintenance checks on existing fire protection systems infrastructure.
• Inspect piping installation sites to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues within existing fire protection pipe systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to create and review technical drawings and schematics.
• Adhere to all relevant laws, guidelines, and codes regarding fire safety.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Provide emergency repairs and adjustments to fire protection systems as needed.
• Assist in the testing and evaluation of fire protection systems post-installation.
• Train and guide apprentices or less experienced technicians as required.
• Work with procurement teams to ensure availability of necessary tools and equipment.
• Communicate with clients to explain system capabilities and maintenance requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
• Proven experience as a pipe fitter or similar plumber role in fire safety.
• Familiarity with laws, codes, and standards in fire protection industry.
• Strong technical and mechanical skills, with ability to use relevant tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and schematics.
• Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation.
