We are currently recruiting for an Advisor to join our Health and Safety team in Dubai.


Scope


Responsible for developing and implementing Health & Safety Management system at Transguard worksites, and ensuring its compliance with International Safety Standards (ISO 45001 & 14001). This position will develop guidelines in coordination with Health and Safety Manager for the Health and Safety management of operations and standards. The Advisor will be a provider of information, giving technical guidance on all Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental matters, identifying and advising on current and future requirements and ensuring that systems, policies and processes are in place to prevent incidents and support the continuing development of a Health and Safety culture across the organization.


Responsibilities


Financial


  • Implementation of organizational and client Health and Safety policies and procedures in compliance to ISO 45001:2018, 14001:2015 any other Health and Safety standard applicable to work side
  • Advise the business on Health and Safety matters and assist them in the implementation of a health and safety management system
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections for identification of Health and Safety hazards at the workplace or premises and ensure these hazards are minimized by implementing adequate control measures
  • To ensure compliance of applicable legal requirements pertaining to Health, Safety and Environment. Manage and coordinate all Health and Safety matters related to Business Units incompliance with Health and Safety requirements, e.g., specifications, safety codes, legal requirements, and TG policies and procedures
  • Carry out regular site visits to the TG accommodations to ensure the safety standards are implemented and practiced.
  • Carry out building safety assessment for the TG accommodations


Customer


  • Coordinate within the business unit to conduct occupational risk and opportunity/environmental aspects and impact assessment for prudently managing Health and Safety risks and creating opportunities for continual improvement in their respective areas.
  • Work closely with the TG client’s Health & Safety representatives to ensure TG staff are aware and following their Health and Safety procedures. Attend client meetings whenever required.
  • To carry out Health and Safety awareness training sessions within the organization to promote safety culture and to carry out/arrange job-specific training for Operatives.
  • To verify the permit to work system and implement a safe system of work for ensuring operational activities are carried out with all safety precautions in place. Where applicable.
  • Any other business-related task assigned by line manager


Process


  • Prepare all the necessary Health and Safety documents as per the client and legal requirements for any new sites before the mobilization and ensure they are followed and regularly revised to include any changes.
  • Conduct internal audits as per schedule and attend audits with the external auditors and clients whenever required.
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety data is maintained on the shared folder/share point in a timely manner.


Innovation


  • Investigate Health and Safety incidents and noncompliance events to determine the root cause and recommend remedial action to prevent reoccurrence. To identify any patterns in lagging indicators that may require further investigation and improvement across the business and within individual business units.
  • Ensure the tracking and maintenance of all records and documents related to the Health and Safety such as training, investigation reports, etc.


Selection criteria


  • 4-5 years of experience in a similar field
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Health and Safety or equivalent from a recognized university
  • Airport experience would be a plus
  • Any Recognized qualification in Health and Safety, such as NEBOSH IGC or NVQ, etc.
  • Lead/internal Auditor qualification in Health and Safety management system (ISO 45001 / 14001)
  • Basic First Aid and Firefighting Training
  • Any internationally accredited environment certificate will be preferable
  • Good knowledge in implementing Health and Safety standards, including policies/procedures and ISO standard such as ISO 45001, 14001, etc.
  • Working knowledge of project execution and technical knowledge of safety systems such as firefighting systems
  • Knowledge of the UAE Health and Safety legislation, code of practice & municipality guidelines, OSHAD, or other emirates Health and Safety regulations
  • Holding a valid UAE driving license
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Good in report writing
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Teamwork/collaborative approach
  • Critical thinking, adaptability and analytical approach
