Responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all plumbing systems and equipment throughout the hotel. Perform plumbing repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance to ensure the comfort and safety of guests and team members. Adress plumbing emergencies, maintain all plumbing fixtures, ensure compliance with safety and hotel standards and to achieve the Hotel’s Balance Scorecard and other relevant KPI’s such as but not limited to QA, SALT, HACCAP and GTMS.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Repairs & Maintenance
- Carry out maintenance tasks on various plumbing equipment and systems, including the assembly and installation of plumbing fixtures, equipment, and systems.
- Oversee water treatment systems, monitor readings, and take corrective action when deviations occur.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance of plumbing systems, including pipes, faucets, toilets, showers, water heaters, and drainage systems.
- Conduct troubleshooting and repair of any plumbing-related issues in guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and hotel facilities.
- Perform drain cleaning, unclogging, and pipe repairs as necessary.
- Assist with the installation of audio/visual equipment in guest rooms or function rooms, including microphone and lighting systems, as needed.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to breakdowns and emergency calls.
- Follow the preventive maintenance schedule while performing necessary tasks, completing daily plumber log sheets, and accurately recording all readings.
- Maintain all necessary tools in good working condition and keep the workspace neat and organized.
- Respond immediately to fire alarm activations and take corrective action as per policy.
- Conduct guest room and preventive maintenance according to the programmed schedule.
- Conduct visual and physical inspections of guestroom services, VIP rooms, public areas, the lobby, and corridors to ensure optimal conditions.
- Handle special guest requests, such as providing new appliances, in coordination with supervisors.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure plumbing systems are in optimal working condition.
Control
- Regularly check and ensure that par stock levels for plumbing spares are maintained, monitoring inventory and placing orders in advance to prevent shortages.
- Familiarize yourself with the plumbing (R&M) budget and ensure expenses remain within the allocated budget.
- Monitor utility consumption and report findings to the supervisor for necessary control measures.
- Adhere to cost control measures to minimize wastage and losses, aligning with budget recommendations.
Inspections / Audits
- Check guest rooms and public areas for any issues and take corrective action if necessary.
- Conduct regular inspections of plant rooms and equipment, ensuring that these areas remain clean, organized, and free of unauthorized storage.
- Ensure compliance with all municipal codes, regulations, and mandatory environmental standards, including QA, HACCP, safety, and security protocols.
- Attend daily briefings with team members and update the status of assigned tasks.
- Ensure a proper shift handover to the next team, communicating all necessary information.
- Offer support to team members whenever needed.
- Maintain proper documentation for all plumbing plant and equipment's.
- Submit material requests in advance and follow up with the Engineering Admin/Coordinator for required spare parts.
- Actively participate in all necessary meetings and hotel events.
Administrative Functions
Energy Conservation:
- Regularly monitor the GRMS and BMS systems to ensure they are operating efficiently.
- Conduct routine walkthroughs of the property to identify opportunities for energy conservation.
- Maintain a vigilant approach to energy management, closely monitoring electricity, gas, and water usage. Identify areas where consumption can be reduced without compromising guest comfort and report findings to the supervisor.
Supportive Functions
- Actively participate in all training sessions organized by the Engineering department and the hotel and complete all required online training courses on time.
- Adhere to all Hilton Brand Standards within the Engineering department to uphold the hotel's high-quality standards.
- Adhere to all relevant Health, Safety and Environment procedures, instructions and controls and act in emergency situations.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of service standards and apply them consistently.
- Respond promptly to guest inquiries, offering assistance, directions, and necessary information.
- Ensure that Engineering operations meet guest satisfaction, service quality, and operational efficiency, with a strong focus on achieving the Hotel’s Balance Scorecard and key performance indicators (KPIs), including QA, SALT, GTMS, Safety & Security.
- Effectively handle guest complaints, ensuring their needs and comfort are met at all times.
- Proactively seek guidance to enhance performance and continuously improve service delivery.
- Perform related tasks and duties as assigned and deemed necessary by management.
- Maintain high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all time.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill And Ability
- In-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and repair techniques.
- Expertise in Fire Life Safety systems and procedures.
- Strong knowledge and experience in building operations and maintenance.
- Proficient in Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Familiar with QA, HACCP, and safety & security systems.
- Good level of speaking, reading, and writing in English language.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to details, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to follow all safety procedures/standards and able to recognize and act in emergency situations.
