Job Description

A Civil Foreman 11N25 is a key leadership position within a construction site responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of civil construction activities. This role requires an individual with a strong background in civil engineering or construction management and expertise in overseeing a team of workers, ensuring safety and quality standards, and meeting project timelines. The Civil Foreman must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, managing resources, and liaising with project managers to ensure that projects are completed according to specifications and within budget. They act as the primary point of contact for all ground-level operations, ensuring communication between the workforce and upper management is clear and effective. The position requires hands-on leadership to guide teams, resolve issues, and ensure that health and safety protocols are rigorously adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct all construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with plans.
  • Coordinate daily work schedules and assign tasks to construction workers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Inspect work progress and ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and drills with site workers and staff.
  • Monitor project timelines and budgets, reporting any discrepancies to project managers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all site activities and prepare regular progress reports.
  • Address and resolve any unanticipated issues or challenges that arise during construction.
  • Liaise with engineering, technical staff, and project managers on scope and design changes.
  • Verify materials delivered to the site are according to the order specification and quality requirements.
  • Ensure the site is kept clean, tidy, and organized to prevent accidents and maintain efficiency.
  • Manage the performance and development of team members, providing guidance and training as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory role within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective liaison with teams and clients.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and the ability to enforce them on-site.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and other relevant computer programs.
