Fitness Instructor

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the MWR Technician – Fitness Tech coordinates activities required to operate Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facilities

Principal Accountabilities

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)

• Fitness certification should be from a creditable state, national or international certifying organization.
• Candidate must have the skills and personality traits to effectively lead and motivate students; comfortable instructing group exercise.
• Good customer service and people skills are necessary.
• A good grasp of music and rhythm in order to choose the right songs for choreography is needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned
  
  

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of exercise science, health and fitness
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  
  

Experience & Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years’ of related experience preferred
• Obtain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED), through either the Red Cross or American Heart
• Prefer at least one year group exercise experience as an instructor or student.
  
  

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
• Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
