Role Overview
The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technology programs and operational initiatives. This role leads cross-functional teams, manages program governance, and ensures successful delivery across scope, budget, timelines, and quality objectives.
The position requires strong leadership, program management expertise, and operational oversight capabilities, with experience managing software development, IT service delivery, and transformation initiatives within fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
Program Planning & Strategy
Lead the planning and execution of program activities aligned with organizational objectives and strategic priorities.
Develop long-term program goals, operational plans, and delivery roadmaps.
Establish program governance frameworks, evaluation methods, and performance metrics.
Support the development of budgets, operational plans, and resource strategies for program delivery.
Program Operations & Governance
Ensure program activities align with organizational policies, standards, and operational procedures.
Maintain documentation, reporting structures, and operational records related to program activities.
Oversee compliance with relevant governance, confidentiality, and quality standards.
Monitor program performance, risks, and operational effectiveness, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and manage program teams to ensure successful execution and continuous development.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management activities for program staff.
Foster collaboration across technical, operational, and business teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
Provide direction, coaching, and ongoing feedback to support team performance and engagement.
Stakeholder & Service Delivery Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, sponsors, and key stakeholders.
Coordinate delivery activities across multiple teams and operational functions.
Ensure services are delivered effectively within agreed timelines, quality expectations, and service levels.
Prepare and present program updates, performance reports, and recommendations to leadership stakeholders.
Risk & Financial Management
Monitor program budgets and operational expenditures to ensure financial alignment.
Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with program activities and delivery.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence and service enhancement.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing custom software development or technology delivery projects.
At least 5 years of experience in Agile methodologies and/or project management environments.
Minimum of 3 years of experience managing IT operations or service delivery functions.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), application support, and operational delivery processes.
Experience in risk management, financial oversight, and program governance.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities within fast-paced and service-driven environments.
Preferred
Background in solution architecture or enterprise technology design.
Professional certifications such as PMP are preferred.
Program management certifications (e.g., PgMP) are advantageous.
