The role is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, strategies and policies that ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance. This role works across departments to align data practices with business goals and regulatory requirements, helping to establish data as a trusted and strategic asset.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Alignment
Contributes to the development of the organization’s data strategy and roadmap
Collaborates with business and IT stakeholders to align data initiatives with strategic objectives
Participates in data governance councils and working groups
Data Governance Implementation
Supports the rollout and maintenance of data governance policies, standards, and procedures
Assists in defining data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models
Monitors compliance with data governance frameworks and escalate issues as needed
Data Quality & Stewardship
Works with data stewards and custodians to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
Supports data profiling, quality assessments, and remediation efforts
Helps define and track data quality KPIs and metrics
Risk & Compliance
Ensures data practices comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, local data privacy laws)
Assists in data classification, access control, and data lifecycle management initiatives
Communication & Training
Promotes awareness of data governance principles and best practices across the organization
Supports training and onboarding efforts related to data governance roles and responsibilities
Qualifications
Must have bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Business Administration, or any related field
Must have 3–5 years of experience in data strategy, data management, or related roles
Must have familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica), and data quality concepts
Must have strong understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance standards
Must have excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills
Work Set-up: Hybrid (3x a week onsite, 2x a week work-from-home)
