Job Title: Cloud Engineer - Infrastructure Team

About the Role:

As a Cloud Engineer within the Infrastructure Team, reporting to the Head of Infrastructure, you will be responsible for delivering Azure cloud transformation projects, including Landing Zone deployment and migrating on-premises infrastructure, applications, and SQL databases into Microsoft Azure. Reporting to Matt Wren, you will work within a skilled engineering group to architect, deliver and optimise cloud environments aligned to the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF). A key part of the role will involve engineering migrations using the 6R methodology (Rehost, Refactor, Rearchitect, Rebuild, Replace, Retire).

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver Azure transformation programmes including Landing Zones, workload migration, hybrid connectivity and governance configuration.
• Engineer and migrate applications into Azure using 6R methodology, selecting an appropriate migration strategy per workload.
• Lead SQL migration workstreams including assessment, schema conversion, data replication, cutover, and post-migration tuning.
• Design and implement Azure architectures aligned to CAF & Well-Architected Framework best practice.
• Configure Azure infrastructure workloads — networking, compute, storage, RBAC, monitoring, backup, security & compliance tooling.
• Support Microsoft Modern Workplace & cloud security products as required:
  
  

○ Entra ID (Azure AD)

○ Intune / Autopilot

○ Azure Virtual Desktop

○ Sentinel & Defender for Cloud

• Collaborate with the Infrastructure/NOC teams to resolve L2/L3 cloud & hybrid Microsoft escalations.
• Contribute to pre-sales activities including workshops, requirements capture, solution architecture and Statements of Work.
• Produce high-quality documentation including runbooks, HLD/LLD designs, diagrams and knowledge transfer packs.
  
  

Required Skills & Expertise:

• Hands-on experience migrating applications & databases to Azure — ideally using 6R methodology.
• Azure IaaS exposure including networking, governance, Entra ID integration, RBAC and security controls.
• Experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL platforms, migration tooling & performance tuning.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills and experience in delivering projects end-to-end.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in hybrid environments with a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
  
  

Required Certifications

✔ AZ-900 — Azure Fundamentals

✔ AZ-104 — Azure Administrator Associate (or equivalent experience)

Preferred / Desirable Certifications

⭐ AZ-305 — Azure Solutions Architect Expert

⭐ AZ-700 — Azure Network Engineer Associate

⭐ AZ-500 — Azure Security Engineer Associate

⭐ DP-300 — Azure Database Administrator Associate (beneficial for SQL migration workloads)

⭐ Microsoft 365, Intune, Sentinel or Defender certifications are advantageous

(Candidates without all preferred certs will be supported in achieving them as part of development roadmap.)
