Job Description

A Procurement Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing the organization’s purchasing processes and activities. This role involves acquiring goods and services at the best possible price and ensuring that the procurement operations run smoothly and efficiently. The Procurement Officer will maintain effective relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with various departments to ensure that purchases are made in a timely and cost-effective manner. The candidate must have excellent analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work under pressure. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management and an ability to develop good working relationships with all stakeholders, both internally and externally.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement efficient procurement strategies across all purchasing operations.
  • Manage the procurement process from initial request to delivery and completion.
  • Negotiate favorable contract terms and pricing agreements with vendors and suppliers.
  • Monitor and review purchasing budgets and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Conduct market research to identify new and potential suppliers globally.
  • Collaborate with key users to ensure clarity and fulfillment of specifications and expectations.
  • Coordinate with the finance department for timely payment and budget alignment.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
  • Prepare and maintain reports to track purchasing activity and supplier performance.
  • Ensure transparent supplier selection and impartial bidding processes.
  • Mentor and supervise junior procurement staff, providing oversight and support.
  • Resolve supplier grievances and claims against suppliers promptly and fairly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or similar field.
  • At least three years of experience in a procurement or purchasing role.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management and vendor relations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to derive insights from data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different departments and teams.
