Job Description

The role of a Medical Receptionist involves being the first point of contact for patients visiting the healthcare facility. This vital position requires excellent customer service skills, as you will manage the front desk, greet patients, schedule appointments, handle inquiries, and process patient information. As a Medical Receptionist, you ensure a smooth and efficient flow of the operational needs of the clinic or hospital. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and assist them with the check-in process efficiently.
  • Manage incoming calls, addressing inquiries, and redirecting them as necessary.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, ensuring optimal time management for providers.
  • Maintain and update patient records with accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Collect payments, co-pays, and perform billing tasks promptly and accurately.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and medical personnel effectively and courteously.
  • Prepare and distribute necessary forms and documents to patients and staff.
  • Ensure the waiting area is clean, organized, and welcoming at all times.
  • Handle confidential information sensitively, adhering to privacy regulations.
  • Assist in managing inventory of office supplies and medical forms.
  • Support administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and data entry as needed.
  • Liaise with insurance companies to verify patient coverage and benefits accurately.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification is required for this position.
  • Previous experience as a receptionist in a medical setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Proficient in using computer systems, including scheduling software and email systems.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of discretion with confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping activities.
