Job Description

The Fire & Life Safety Officer plays a critical role in maintaining safety and ensuring compliance with fire codes and regulations within the organization. This position involves overseeing and implementing fire safety programs, conducting regular inspections, and providing training to staff on fire prevention and emergency response procedures. A Fire & Life Safety Officer is responsible for minimizing the risks associated with fire hazards and ensuring that all departments within the organization are prepared in the event of an emergency. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members to maintain a secure and safe working environment.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with fire codes.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fire safety programs and protocols.
  • Ensure all fire safety equipment is maintained and in good working order.
  • Provide training to staff on fire prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate fire drills and assess evacuation plans for effectiveness.
  • Liaise with local fire departments and other regulatory agencies as necessary.
  • Identify potential fire hazards and suggest appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare detailed reports on fire safety status and present to management.
  • Stay updated on the latest fire safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Ensure proper signage and labeling of all fire exits and related facilities.
  • Assist in the investigation of fire incidents and compile necessary documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to promote a culture of safety.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Safety Management, or related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Fire Inspector or Fire Safety Officer is strongly desired.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in fire safety or emergency management.
  • Strong knowledge of fire codes, standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for training and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in using fire safety equipment and conducting fire risk assessments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions quickly in emergencies.
