Your Teams Impact
FactSet Research Systems is seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, AI-driven solutions, and a robust evaluation framework for MCP tools and agent workflows. This role focuses on enabling secure, scalable, and intelligent systems by leveraging MCP standards, OAuth-based authentication, and advanced AI technologies, while ensuring quality through automated evaluations.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in distributed systems, API design, MCP architecture, AI integration, and evaluation methodologies, with a strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues and collaborate across teams. Creativity, problem-solving, and a passion for innovation are essential.
What Youll Do
- MCP & AI Integration
- Design and architect MCP servers and tools following best practices for scalability, security, and interoperability.
- Develop MCP-compliant services and connectors to integrate with AI platforms (e.g., LangChain, LangSmith).
- Implement secure authentication mechanisms, including OAuth 2.0, for remote MCP servers.
- Build scalable APIs and frameworks for AI-driven workflows and context-aware applications.
- Lead efforts to integrate LLM-based tools and agent frameworks into enterprise solutions.
- Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies and MCP standards to drive innovation.
- Evaluation Framework Ownership
- Design and implement an evaluation framework for MCP servers and tools, covering offline benchmarks, multi-turn tests, and production monitoring.
- Build datasets and evaluators to measure tool selection accuracy, argument validity, task completion, latency, and cost.
- Integrate LangSmith Evaluations, AgentEvals, and DeepEval for MCP-specific metrics.
- Define CI/CD gates for MCP tool regressions and agent behavior drift; automate evaluations in GitHub Actions or equivalent.
- Operationalize online evaluations for multi-turn conversations and agent threads to monitor success rates and failure modes.
- Engineering Leadership
- Promote infrastructure as code and automated deployment for MCP and AI services.
- Adopt test-driven development and implement automated unit, integration, and performance tests.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, and engineering teams in an agile environment.
- Mentor junior engineers on MCP design, AI integration, and evaluation best practices.
- Ensure operational reliability and scalability of deployed MCP and AI solutions.
- Participate in on-call support rotation for critical MCP/AI services.
What Were Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
- 8-10 years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in distributed systems and API design.
- Experience with MCP protocol implementation and related standards.
- Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0, secure token management, and API authentication.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or Node.js, with experience building RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with LangChain, LangSmith, or similar AI frameworks.
- Experience with evaluation frameworks (LangSmith Evaluations, AgentEvals, DeepEval) and CI/CD integration.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI agent orchestration.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases, streaming architectures, and ETL tools.
- Background in financial data systems is a plus.
