Power Solution engineering team in DDN is responsible for the development of innovative power system solutions which are used in AI, Datacenter, Cloud server, and other IT system, including connector, busbar and cable assembly.
Roles & Responsibilities
As a manager of product development team, you will be responsible for leading engineering organization in performing research and development work according to customer requirement and technology roadmap.
Responsibilities
Manage team to research, develop and drive New product development to product with the verification and validation of product performance to customer application or market requirements.
Responsible for performance goals following organization strategy, review and provide feedback to team member periodically.
Overseeing the entire process of new products development and provide support as needed.
Drive speed and iteration concepts with customers in cable assembly team.
Drive early samples meeting form, fit needs- early concept proof or form, fit and function needs of the customer.
Coach and develop team member to build a good performance team
Drive the continuous development and enhancement of systems and procedures to streamline design and development process
Drive and realize technology roadmap and align with cross-function team for cable assembly.
Work closely with customer/sales/PM in getting a clear VOC (voice of customer) and iterative feedback.
Follow or adjust the LEANPD Project Process to support the project team from the PDE perspective to complete the NPI project on time, with quality, and within budget. Drive the development and release of products, scale-up through stage-gate reviews, ensuring milestone commitments are maintained.
Develop and manage product documentation, including product requirements, design documents, test plans/reports to support product performance and align with customer documentation needs.
Work with global manufacturing resources, procurement, and outside suppliers to meet all TE technical, quality, and cost objectives.
Work closely with suppliers to identify and qualify new components and technologies.
Conduct verification / simulation of mechanical, electrical, thermal and Power integrity modeling as needed to assure concept and early samples are capable to meet performance of product and system. Team needs to be capable of such analysis and recommendations to optimize design
Conduct thorough design verification and validation testing to ensure the product meets the required specifications.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth transition to production.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians to develop their skills and knowledge.
Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
Build a deep understanding of market and customer needs by fostering a connection between the customer, sales and field application teams and the product management teams.
Maintain a System level understanding of customer application and the product design/concept necessary for providing a solution to the customers’ expectations.
Technical support to customer, sales, PM, and plant team. Conduct necessary tests, engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and verification.
Introduce breakthrough technologies by partnering technically with our customers worldwide and with our TE Global competency centers to enhance business revenue & growth.
Apply engineering best practices to reduce cost and sustain existing products to meet customer’s cost targets.
Education & Experience
Bachelors or master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
Experience with product development processes, including design, prototyping, and testing.
Project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge about various phases of product realization and product development
Knowledge of state-of-the-art design tools such as 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD), modeling, Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GD&T), electrical & electronic design, and Simulation
Knowledge of manufacturing process (machining, molding, stamping, plating, etc.)
Knowledge of material (metal/plastic) properties will be a plus.
Familiarity with quality tools (FMEA, 6sigma, DOE, 8D…) will be a plus.
Critical Experience
Minimum of 15 years of experience in product development, preferably in the technology industry with a minimum of 3 years in the Cable Assembly, Busbar or Connector related products.
5 years or above experience in RD team management, global collaboration experience is required.
Experience with data center technology and connectors/cable assembly is a plus.
Experience in design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), design for cost (DFC), design for manufacturing (DFM).
Capability and experience in presentation on products, solutions, and technologies.
Previous experience in working in high-performing multi-disciplinary global engineering teams.
