Tax Manager - GCS

Global Compensation Services – As part of People Advisory Services (PAS), the Global Compensation (GCS) team provides and manages compensation for multinational companies who send employees (assignees), and their families, to work and live in another country. Global Compensation Services team assists clients with the collection and validation of data from payrolls, third party vendors and other financial systems around the world and creating repository. This team helps the clients deliver quality data for tax return and other compliance requirements, track actual assignment costs against budgets and report assignee compensation in every country where international assignees are employed.

The core function of the Compensation Services team is to gather, consolidate and provide information about an assignees pay and benefits to create a central global repository of total compensation data. Such services include, but are not limited to:

  • Collection and consolidation of compensation data for tax and social security compliance
  • Shadow payroll reporting
  • Total cost reporting and advisory based on engagement scope
  • Interface with the EY Tax and engagement co-ordination teams.
  • Managing country payroll activities

Tax Manager – A manager is expected to spearhead a team of analyst, advanced analyst, senior and assistant manager. The primary responsibility includes, but not limited to engagement management, developing client relationships, team supervision, team development, and mentoring.

Working in the Integrated Mobility team at EY offers fantastic opportunities to develop client relationships early on in your career and to be involved in the day-to-day management of relationships and delivery of our services across a broad range of issues above and beyond tax compliance and advisory.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • At EY we operate with a ‘client centric’ approach, where we aim to be our clients’ trusted business partner. This is achieved by being pro-active, understanding their requirements and challenges and providing a relevant and high level of client service.
  • Gain a strong understanding of the global mobility structure of the clients
  • Responsible for final review and sign off of on compensation reports before sending to EY clients
  • Demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of global compensation reporting requirements
  • Work closely with the Senior Managers in driving overall GCS strategy
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with the clients and internal colleagues
  • Provide season planning and monitoring deadlines for your responsible accounts and Communicate progress and project status to all stakeholders
  • Set performance measurements and ensure that performance goals, including engagement economics, turnaround time and quality targets are met
  • Represent the sub-service line practice to external audiences
  • Lead risk management initiatives, identifying and mitigating potential risks in client engagements.
  • Spearhead by example and be a role model. Develop, mentor, coach and supervise teams
  • Demonstrate leadership and executive presence
  • Communicate progress and project status to all stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the firm policies related to independence, confidentiality and privacy, client acceptance and engagement letters, tax return preparer guidelines and knowledge-sharing
  • Create and spearhead the highest performing teams and inspire team members
  • Leading the implementation of technology projects and process controls in the tax compliance area.
  • Identifying training requirements for GDS team members and collaborate closely with knowledge teams and trainers to address concerns effectively.
  • Actively participating in staff and senior level hiring process.

Skills And Attributes For Success

  • Effective communication skills by being articulate, thoughtful and adapting communications to target audiences; interacting effectively in person, by phone and in writing- including chatting
  • Good systematic, numeric and teaming skills
  • Advanced MS office knowledge – Excel, word, PowerPoint & Power BI
  • Knowledge of the global mobility environment
  • Strong subject matter knowledge of assignee compensation
  • Able to train and communicate concepts to team and provide assignment service logic
  • Project management skills to manage timelines and deliverables

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in Maintaining Client Trust and Value
  • Commercial Astuteness
  • Finding innovative ways to engage and work with teams virtually
  • Ability to manage multiple and intercultural stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent analytical skills, and attention to detail
  • Exposure to quality control and risk management processes
  • Strong project management and people management skills.
  • Experience working in a client facing role is preferred

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree
  • 8 -10 years prior relevant industry experience in one of more of global mobility, payroll, tax (individual), compensation
  • Preferably experienced in Mobility clients
  • Professional certification, Global Mobility Specialist good to have
