Job Description

As a Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of employees, equipment, and the workplace environment. You will be responsible for developing and implementing safety programs and policies to meet compliance standards and create a culture of safety. Your expertise will help identify potential risks and hazards, conduct thorough risk assessments, and recommend appropriate safety measures. Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce health and safety plans, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Ensure all safety regulations are strictly adhered to by all employees.
  • Provide safety training and awareness programs for staff and management.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to determine cause and necessary prevention methods.
  • Compile detailed reports on safety performance and compliance metrics.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct emergency drills regularly.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and manage safety documentation and reports.
  • Work closely with management to develop strategies to improve workplace safety.
  • Evaluate new equipment and processes for safety and compliance before implementation.
  • Collaborate with external safety consultants and local authorities on safety matters.
  • Act as the point of contact for employee concerns about safety policies and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a safety officer position.
  • Hands-on experience with ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices within the industry.
  • Solid understanding of report writing, documentation, and safety inspection procedures.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety, such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective policy enforcement.
