The role of a Network Administrator is pivotal in ensuring that the computer networks of an organization are robust, efficient, and secure. As a Network Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of computer networks that support in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. You are expected to enhance networks to meet increased demand and new technological opportunities. Additionally, you will diagnose network problems and respond to queries from staff to ensure the network runs smoothly and efficiently. Your expertise will also be called upon to make recommendations for improvements and to implement measures to enhance the overall security and functionality of the network systems. This role requires a proactive individual with a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including hardware, systems software, and applications.
• Direcly responsible for solving technical issues as they arise and ensuring minimal downtime.
• Constantly monitor network performance to determine areas for improvement and optimization.
• Implement and oversee network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Ensure efficient operation of network infrastructure by applying upgrades and system improvements.
• Regularly analyze network data to identify issues and develop strategies for resolution.
• Collaborate with IT team to design and implement functional network systems.
• Provide technical support for network problems and conduct regular network support tasks.
• Conduct network and system audits for security and efficiency improvements.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for networks and systems operations.
• Participate in the management of service level agreements with technology providers.
• Stay informed of new technologies and advancements in network administration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Network Administrator or similar role in IT infrastructure.
• Thorough understanding of network operating systems such as Cisco, JUNOS, or Linux.
• Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure protocols and technologies.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Certifications like CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent are preferred.
